Police arrest 4 youths with T56 rifles in Kiraan in East

Vaazhaichcheanai Police arrested four youths in Kiraan in Batticaloa district with T 56 rifles. They are alleged to have been involved in several robberies and house breaking thefts in the area, police said. The four youths were taken into custody Friday and are detained in Vaazhaichcheanai police for interrogation.

Members of pro-government militant groups are involved in the extortion, robbery and house breaking which have escalated recently in the Eastern Province, civil society organizations circles in Batticaloa said.
