Blast kills boy, 4 children wounded in Moothoor

An eight year old boy, Mohajideen Zharwan, succumbed to his injuries after he, along with four others were when they were playing with an explosive devise that exploded Saturday morning near Moothoor jetty. The injured boys were admitted to the Trincomalee general hospital. All were from the Muslim community and were living with their parents at Thakwa Nakar, a suburb located close to the jetty in Moothoor.

The five were rushed to the Trincomalee general hospital from Moothoor hospital and one of them Mujahudeen (8) succumbed to injuries while being transferred.

Moothor Police sources said the blast took place Saturday around 10 a.m. while they were playing with a steel object without knowing that it was a part of mortar bomb.

Naseer Salman (10) Naseer Sadique (5), Rasik Imran (9), and Najeed Zarkan (3) are the injured now being warded in the Trincomalee hospital. Three of the victims were from one family.
