Former LTTE cadres’ wives bear witness before LLRC in Jaffna

The wife of Vijithan, a key person in Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) political wing, told the Lessons Learnt & Reconciliation Committee (LLRC) Friday in Changkaraththai in Vaddukoaddai that her husband and her brother were taken away after they surrendered themselves to Sri Lanka Army (SLA) at Vadduvaakal in Mullaiththeevu and that she had not had any information about her husband since then. Vijithan Arivumathi added that her brother who was released later had seen her husband surrendering to SLA at Vadduvaakal.

Arivumathi requested LLRC to help trace her husband who had disappeared after being taken away by SLA soldiers.

In Kurunakar, Gowri Shanmuganathan, the wife of Shanmuganathan, the former official in charge of marriage wing of LTTE, told LLRC Friday that she saw her husband and their son Umaiyavan being taken away by SLA soldiers after surrendering themselves.

Gowri appealed to the LLRC to find her husband.

LLRC conducted it sessions Friday at Jaffna University, A’laveddi Makaajana Hall, Changkaraththai, Jaffna Secretariat and Kurunakar.

Most the persons who witnessed before LLRC told that Sri Lanka Army men, Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) men and its paramilitary men had abducted their sons and daughters who have disappeared without trace.
