Commissioner General of Prisons Major General (retired) V.R.de Silva told media sources that medical officers had confirmed that Fonseka was suffering from an illness.
However, Anoma Fonseka, wife of Sarath Fonseka, is reported to have told Colombo media that the cell where her husband is being detained was leaking the previous night due to heavy rain. She added prison officials had provided several buckets to place under the leaks.
