Jaffna Police Sunday morning removed an unidentified body of a 40 year old male person found dead under a passenger shelter in the Jaffna central bus stand on receipt of information from the public. The body was handed over to the mortuary of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for identification and inquest. This discovery, following the killing of a mentally deranged Tamil youth at Puththoor junction by the Sri Lanka Army Saturday on Friday, has fuelled tension and fear in Jaffna.

Meanwhile, the Tamil youth shot dead by the Sri Lanka Army Saturday at Puththoor junction in Meesaalai was identified as Thusyanthan Thuraisingham, 26, of Vellamkaddi, Kodikaamam by his father.

The deceased sat for the GCE A/L examination and he later became mentally deranged due to the Vanni war and admitted for treatment in the Chavakachcheari government hospital, it was revealed at the inquest.

His father took the body home with police protection.
