STF patrol ambushed

A Special Task Force commando was killed when the Liberation Tigers ambushed a STF patrol near Badulla road junction in the south-eastern Ampara yesterday around 5.30 pm.

The STF patrol was returning to its camp at Pakiella after routine patrol. The fighting went on for an hour said sources.

Meanwhile STF commandos cordoned off the Kalmunai town and conducted a search operation this morning from 10.30 to 11.30 am.

All transport from Kalmunai town to Batticaloa and to Akkaraippattu were disturbed during the search operation.
