Body of Muslim man recovered in Batticaloa

The body of Mohamathu Sharifuthamby, 65, father of five children, was recovered near a tank located in the close proximity of a camp of the Sri Lanka Army at Naavaladi junction, about 3 km off Vaa値aichcheanai in Batticaloa district on Monday. Relatives said Sharifuthamby left home for fishing in the tank and did not return. The police recovered the body on receipt of information from residents of Paa値aikaaduve壇dai within the Vaa値aichche地ai police division.

The victim was later identified as a resident of Maa地chcholai village.

The police commenced investigation into the cause of his death.

The body was handed over to his relatives after postmortem examination at Vaa値aichche地ai hospital.
