The Indian intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) in a recent report warned about increased activities of the Pakistani intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in Jaffna in the last 3-4 months, reported Indian media, The Pioneer, last Wednesday. According to the report, the Pakistanis have been erecting spy equipment in Jaffna for keeping tab on the movement of Indian submarines.

Using the listening post in Jaffna, Pakistanis want to listen in on all communication of Indian submarines and those of the Visakhapatnam-based Eastern Command that boasts of nuclear submarines, as well as INS Chakra of Russian origin in its fleet, the Indian media said.

Following the RAW report, a high level meeting of the Indian National Security Council was held last Tuesday to assess the threat as well as damages, and India is likely to take up the matter with Sri Lanka. China in the past has established a similar listening post in Coco islands to monitor ship movements in the Andamans of India, The Pioneer further said.
