Blast kills two soldiers

The Officer in Charge of the Thambalai Sri Lanka Army (SLA) camp and a corporal were killed this morning when a bomb exploded around 8.15 a.m. said sources.

Lieutenant. Kottelawalle and Corporal Indraratne were killed on the spot when troops attempted to diffuse a device found in a compound near the Vallalai SLA camp in Achhuvely said Army sources. Valalai is about 15 km. north of Jaffna Town

Meanwhile sporadic fighting has been reported for the second day in the Vadamaradchi east area in the Jaffna peninsula as SLA soldiers continue an operation there, said sources.

The SLA said earlier that two Liberation Tigers were killed in the fighting yesterday.
