Transformer destroyed in Vavuniya

Another transformer in Vavuniya town at the Soosaipillayaarkulam junction was blasted around 6 am today, said sources. This blast occurred within eight hours of the first transformer at Kurumankadu was blasted last night officials at the Ceylon Electricity Board said.

Officials have estimated the cost of the damaged transformer at Rs 600,000. (US$ = Rs70)

Meanwhile, Police said that an unexploded bomb which had been placed at another transformer at Samalankulam about 4 km south east of Vavuniya was recovered by the security forces this morning.
