STF convoy attacked

Ten Special Task Force (STF) commandos were killed and at least 22 wounded when a bomb exploded at Veppankulam, 3 km. north of Vavuniya around 12 noon today police sources said.

The blast was caused by a female LTTE suicide bomber who had jumped in to the STF convoy the sources said.

A civilian employee was also killed in the attack the sources said.

The wounded were rushed to Vavuniya hospital immediately. More than 6 seriously wounded have been transferred to the Anuradhapura hospital.
