Heavy shelling hits Konavil

The Konavil area was heavily shelled by the Sri Lankan army in Kilinochchi, at around 4.45pm on Thursday, Maveerer (Heroes) Day.
The shells were generally directed towards the location of the LTTE war dead (Thiyulum Illam) memorial. The SLA shelling hit residential areas as well.
Saravanaperumal Thevarani, 27, mother of 4 children was killed in the shelling.
Ramakrishnan Jeyanesan, 8, his brother Jeevan, 5 and S. Selvarajah, 28 were wounded in Union Kulam, within the Konavil area. They have been admitted to Akarayan Hospital.
