Three busses blasted

[TamilNet, Thursday, 14 October 1999, 03:51 GMT]
A group of unidentified armed men blew up three new Izuzu luxury buses parked in the Kalmunai depot of the New Eastern Transport Company, around 12.30 a.m. this morning, residents said.

The armed men who entered the bus depot around midnight placed bombs inside three buses after ordering the security personnel and other employees to go out of the premises.

Each bus costs around 4 million rupees, company sources said. The buses were plying to Trincomalee, Colombo and Polannaruwa from Kalmunai as Inter-City Service.

The Special Task Force (STF) troops inspected the scene this morning. They said a bomb was recovered from one of the damaged busses.
