Six civilians wounded[TamilNet, Sunday, 17 October 1999, 16:46 GMT]Six Tamil civilians were wounded when the Sri Lanka Army fired shells from their positions in Mankulam, Karippattamurippu and Ampkamam in the Vanni region towards Uddayarkaddu and Visuvamadu today at about 12.45 p.m. sources said. Among the wounded, three were from the same family: Chandralingam Yogeswary,30, Chandralingam Shaila,17, and Chandralingam Sajeendran,7, from Udayrakaddu. The names of other wounded civilians are: Vijayakumar Rajeswary, 40, Udayarkaddu, Shanmugam Gajendran,14, Udayarkadu and Gurusamy Thanpakkiam,52, of Rsdbarna, Visvamadu in the Wanni region, sources said. The wounded were admitted to the Puthukudiruppu hospital. Sources said shops and houses were also destroyed in the shelling.
