Mr.R. Yogarajan, MP for the Colombo District, was summoned by the Police to record a statement from him yesterday following a complaint made against him by a Sri Lanka Army (SLA) officer said sources.
The SLA officer stated in the complaint that the MP obstructed him from performing duties and that it had lead to escape of 6 members of the Liberation Tigers, the sources said.
On Friday the MP had contacted the SLA officer and protested against arrests of over 75 Tamils during a cordon and search operation in Colombo.
The MP said the arrests were "unnecessary". It led to heated argument between the MP and the officer.
