Girl missing, Youth arrested in Jaffna

A ten year old girl, Ganeshan Gamini, from Ariyalai in Jaffna has been reported missing since yesterday, her parents have complained to the Human Rights Commission (HRC) in Jaffna.

Meanwhile the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) arrested a seventeen year old youth, Theivendran Thayalan, of Urumpirai in the Jaffna peninsula in the early hours of the morning yesterday, residents said.

A complaint in regard to this arrest, has been made to the Jaffna office of the Human Rights Commission.

The SLA has acknowledged the arrest of the youth, HRC sources said. The youth is detained at the Urelu army camp.
