Magistrate slams police inaction[TamilNet, Friday, 26 November 1999, 18:57 GMT]The Jaffna Magistrate today instructed the court sergeant to submit a detailed report on December 12, regarding the human skeletons recovered from the Duraiappah Stadium, legal sources said. The Magistrate Mr.S.E.A.Ekanathan told the Police that he was perturbed over the inaction of the Police in this regard although about 26 human skeletons had been recovered from the Jaffna Duraiappah Stadium area between March 24 and April 26, this year. On March 24, the first human skeleton was recovered by some muncipal employees when they were engaged in construction works. In the subsequent investigation about 26 human skeletons were recovered from that area. The Magistrate observed that the Police had failed to furnish reports thereafter about the recovery of human skeletons and the progress of the investigations made in this regard.
