Five arrested in Vadamaradchi East

Five young men were arrested during a search operation by the Sri Lanka Army soldiers in the villages of Manal Kadhu and Kudathanai in Vadamaradchi East on the Jaffna peninsula today.

Residents said the troops conducted a house-to-house search in the villages from 6 a.m. till 11 a.m. today.

Following were arrested during the search:

Selvaratnam Jeyakumar,24, from Kudathanai Jesurajah Vinothan,19, from Kudathanai C.Amalathas,23, from Kudathanai Sebastiampillai Thevasuthan,23, from Manal Kadhu Benedict Kirubakaran,23 from Manal Kadhu

They are being interrogated at the vallipuram Sri Lanka Army camp sources said.

SLA troops have intensified search operations in the Vadamaradchi East during the past few days, residents said.
