FDLs breached at Elephant pass

The Voice of Tigers said today that a 700 meter length of the forward defence lines (FDLs)of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) was destroyed in an attack launched yesterday at 4 a.m. at Umayalpuram area south of Elephant pass.

The radio claimed 21 LTTE fighters were killed in the heavy confrontations with the SLA there.

The radio also said that the names of those who died will be announced later.

Meanwhile two LTTE fighters were killed on Tuesday in an accidental explosion in the Kilinochchi district. The radio gave the names as Thaarahan (Sivalingam Thayalan of Batticaloa) and Varnapriyan ( Varatharaj Venukan of Batticaloa)

The radio further said that another member of the Liberation Tigers was killed on February 16 at Ariyalai in the Jaffna peninsula. The radio gave his name as Thooyavan (Maharedo Robert Kennedy of Murasumoddai, Kilinochchi).
