Grenade attacks in Jaffna[TamilNet, Saturday, 19 February 2000, 15:51 GMT]A grenade was thrown at the Irupalai police station, about 5 km. north-east of Jaffna town around 4.30 p.m. this evening. A youth was injured when the police opened fire, sources said. The police said the youth, who is believed to be around 25 years old, was a member of the Liberation Tigers. The injured youth was admitted to the Jaffna hospital. In another incident, a grenade was lobbed at Sri Lanka Army soldiers on the Jaffna-Pt.Pedro road, around 11.30 a.m. said sources. It was not known if the troops suffered any casualties.
