Sea-Tigers shell Thaalaiyadi camp

The Liberation Tigers fired mortar shells on Thaalaiyadi Sri Lanka Army (SLA) camp, in Vadamaradchi East, Jaffna peninsula around 5.30 a.m today. Tigers are reported to have shelled the camp from one their boats, sources said.

Some of the shells fell inside the camp and thick black smoke was seen in the area, said sources. However, details of damages were not known.

The Sri Lanka Naval boats which arrived at the scene at about 7.30 a.m. retaliated by firing shells towards LTTE held areas in Uduthurai.

A brief fire-fight erupted between the Tigers and the Sri Lanka Navy in seas off Vadamaradchi, fishermen in the area said.
