Tigers overrun camp in Trinco

Six military trained Policemen were wounded and two were killed when the Liberation Tigers attacked and destroyed their camp at Poovarasanthivu, 10 kilometers south west of Trincomalee, in the early hours of the morning around 1.30 a.m. Sunday. The attackers removed some weapons from the camp, including a Rocket Propelled Grenade launcher, sources said.
The wounded Policemen were rushed to the Kinniya hospital and from there were taken to Trincomalee.
Most of the Police personnel in the camp appear to have fled when the attack began Police sources in Trincomalee said.
The Tigers later fired mortars on the Sri Lanka Army camp in Aalankerny, near Poovarasanthivu.
