The warden, Mary Lourdes Gnanaprakasam, described the carnage and said that the Sri Lanka army had fired the shells on the elder's home. The inmates said that shells fire by the SLA had severely damaged several wards of the home. They too described the deaths and injuries when the home was hit by a volley of heavy artillery fire.
