Vavuniya claymore kills seven, injures nineteen

Seven military trained Sri Lankan Policemen were killed and nineteen wounded when the truck in which they were traveling was hit by claymore mine blast six kilometers west of Vavuniya town on the Mannar road Tuesday morning around 9. 15 a.m.

The Police vehicle was coming to Vavuniya town from sector four when it was hit by a powerful blast of a claymore mine set off by a group of Liberation Tigers between sector three and sector two of the Vavuniya Mannar road said Police sources in the northern border town.

The condition of some Police personnel wounded in the blast is serious they said.
