Streets blocked by UNP protesters

An estimated twenty-five-thousand people attended the mass protest campaign organised by the main opposition, United National Party (UNP) on Tuesday evening opposite Maradana railway station in Colombo.

The UNP organised this protest campaign demanding the government to provide necessary relief measures to cushion the increase in cost of living due to price hikes.

Mr.Ranil Wickremasinghe, Opposition Leader and the President of the UNP addressed the gathering.

All vehicular transport in the Maradana area was disrupted due the UNP's protest, said sources.
