According to a press release issued by the UNP, P.P.Thevaraj and D.M.Rajan will contest in the national list, while T.V.Sennan, S.Sathasivam and R.Rajaratnam will contest in their own electorates.

The CWC had nine seats in the last parliament that was dissolved two weeks ago.

During the last election in 1994, the CWC contested under an electoral understanding with the United National Party. However, it changed allegiance and joined the PA government.
