Stabbed man was EPDP candidate

The EPDP charged today that the PLOTE had grievously wounded one of its candidates in Velanai called Tharmalingam Paramanathan by stabbing him with the jagged edge of a broken bottle.

The PLOTE office in Colombo said that it was not aware of this incident.

A PLOTE spokesman stuck to the earlier version that it was a minor fracas with some drunken civilians who had also pelted a car belonging to the group.

But the matter was later resolved when the civilians came to the PLOTE office at Bangalawadi in Velanai.
