Tamil Guardian website hacked

The website of the Tamil Guardian newspaper was attacked and defaced by hackers Thursday. Visitors to the expatriate weekly’s website found an obscene message attacking the US government on the front page instead of the usual news and images of the paper’s printed pages.
The site was repaired a few hours after the security breach, the paper said.
In the interim period, visitors to the site found the front page defaced with the message “F*** USA government.”
“Whilst we always welcome feedback from visitors to our site, we would rather it wasn’t delivered in quite so imposing a manner,” said Tamil Guardian staff responding to queries by email.
The paper said it did not know who was responsible for the attack, but said it had occasionally received hate mail from Sinhala extremists.
