The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) and the Navy have stepped up security of their camps in the Trincomalee district, military sources said. The SLA Sunday deployed a bulldozer to clear shrubs along Koneswaram Road which leads to Fort Frederick, Trincomalee where the Gajaba Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army is currently stationed.

Some SLA troops provided security at the scene when shrubs were removed. Likewise shrubs found along roads leading to army and navy camps in other parts of the district were also being cleared, army sources said.

Army sources said that they have received intelligence reports about possible LTTE attack on army and navy camps in the Trincomalee district.
