Interns to take up Jaffna duty

Twenty one interns who have been appointed to the Jaffna hospital will assume duties by the middle of this month said sources in Jaffna today. Of the 34 interns, 13 assumed duties last week.

Meanwhile, 11 doctors who have served in the north for the past six months have received transfer orders to the southern parts of the island.

Sinhala doctors have expressed reluctance to serve in the North and some interns who were appointed recently refused to take up their appointments in Jaffna.
