Jaffna Lawyers demand High Court

A group of Lawyers in Jaffna demanded that a High Court be established in the peninsula forthwith, said legal sources in Jaffna.
The lawyers said that the absence of a high court in Jaffna has led to a backlog of cases and an increasing number of detainees in the remand prison.
The lawyers told Mallakam magistrate Mr. Thirunavukarasu that unless the matter is resolved quickly they would take it up as a human rights violation.
