Mr.Pararajasingham further said that efforts are being made to find a solution to the conflict through the peace talks. The Indian army came to northeast of Sri Lanka in the name of peacekeeping force at a time when the Sri Lanka armed forces were weakened in the war. Tamils were confident at that time Indian government would work out a satisfactory solution to their problems. But India failed to provide anything to Tamils. Instead India worked closely with the Sri Lankan government, which was suppressing the basic rights of Tamils. Hence Thileepan began his fast unto death campaign putting forward five demands to the Indian government. Lt.Colonel Thileepan passed away on the twelfth day of fasting, as the Indian government did not bother about his five demands.
