The Missing Persons Guardian Association (MPGA) Tuesday picketed the office of the Human Rights Commission (HRC) of Sri Lanka in Jaffna, to coincide with the International Human Rights Day. Hundreds of members of the Women's Front and Jaffna District Non-governmental Organisations Consortium also participated in the picketing.

The picketing started Tuesday around 10 a.m. concluded afternoon at about 2 p.m.

The picketers demanded that the draconian Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) should be repealed and the government should expedite the investigation into the disappearance of more than six hundred youths arrested by the State armed forces in 1996 and 1997 in the Jaffna district.

The Jaffna District Non-governmental Organisation handed over a memorandum to the HRC official in Jaffna.
