TULF to run council alone

The TULF will run the Jaffna Municipal Council without the support of any other groups, contrary to earlier reports. According to a party spokesman, local government laws permit the party with the simple majority to control the local government body.

The TULF won the Jaffna municipal council by a narrow majority of 358 votes more than PLOTE.

Meanwhile PLOTE issued a statement today alleging that there was a conspiracy in the Jaffna Municipal Council polls to undermine its position.
