The Norwegian head of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission Major General (retd) Trond Furuhovde Monday held discussions with the political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam Mr.S.P.Thamilselvan, and said that the LTTE has fully co-operated with the mission in its tasks.

The talks between the two held at Killinochchi mainly focused on several thorny issues related to the implementation of the ceasefire agreement signed by the Prime Minister and the LTTE leader, sources said.

Mr. Peter Nolan accompanied the SLMM chief. Mr.Pulithevan, head of the Killinochchi peace secretariat, also participated with Mr.Thamilsevan during the talks, sources said.

The outgoing SLMM head Major General Trond Furuhovde Sunday went to Jaffna and held extensive talks with security officials there. He inspected the Tellipalai cancer hospital and Kankesanthurai cement factory. Thereafter he held discussions with the Deputy Commander of the SLA in Jaffna, Major General Ratnasabapathy, at the Palaly SLA headquarters, sources said.

Later, the SLMM head toured the high security zones in Colombagam, Navanthurai, Gurunagar and Ariyalai in Jaffna town, and briefed local journalists at the end of his visit.
