The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Monday called for details of displaced persons returned from LTTE controlled Vanni region and have resettled in their own villages in Thenmaradchchi area in the Jaffna district after the opening of A 9 highway since the ceasefire came into force, civil sources said.

A group of SLA soldiers in civil clothes went to several offices of the Grama Sevaka officers in the Thenmaradchchi area Monday and instructed GS officials to submit details of the resettled displaced who have returned from Vanni in their areas, sources said

The SLA authorities have further instructed the GS officials to furnish details of LTTE martyr families in their areas and also to submit a list of available state lands in their areas, civil sources added.

Meanwhile the Jaffna District Grama Sevaka Officers Union has brought to the notice of the Government the latest instructions of the SLA, secretariat sources said.
