SIHRN branch opens in Vavuniya

A branch of the Sub-Committee on Immediate Humanitarian and Rehabilitation Needs in the North and East (SIHRN) was officially inaugurated at the Vavuniya Secretariat (Kachcheri) by SIHRN's director Selvin Irenuess, Saturday, sources in Vavuniya said.

Vavuniya Government Agent, K. Ganesh, Vavuniya South District Secretary, M. Tilakeratne, Vavuniya District Political Head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), S. Elilan, and Member of the LTTE's women's brigade, Alai, participated in the ceremony, among others.

Mr. Irenuess detailed how the district level branches function in preparing plans for implementation of projects and how these are to be co-ordinated with the Head office in Kilinochchi.

Three members are to be nominated by the LTTE and three members, including the GA Vavuniya, will be nominated by the Government of Sri Lanka to the operating board of the Vavuniya branch of SIHRN, sources close to SIHRN officials said.
