EPDP member's body found in pit

The bullet ridden body of a member of the para military group Eelam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP) was recovered Monday morning from an abandoned sewage pit at Soorawatte American School in Chunnakam area in the Jaffna district, sources said.

The dead youth was later identified as one nineteen years old Amirthalingam Rasan, sources said.

The deceased had left home to Jaffna teaching hospital on April 4. Later a complaint was made about his disappearance, sources said

EPDP Jaffna officials Monday lodged a complaint with the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) and Human Rights Commission (HRC) regional office in Jaffna that a member of their party had been murdered and that his body had been found, sources.
