Trincomalee veteran artists honoured

Six most senior outstanding artists in the Trincomalee district were honoured with special awards at the fourth day Festival of Music, Dance and Drama held Friday at the Trincomalee Orr's Hill Vivekandanda College auditorium. The festival was organized by the Arts and Cultural Society of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

Messrs V.Sankaralingam (violinist), Sithy Amarasingham (dramatist and actor), Rasiah Sinnathamby (folk dancer), T.Pathmanathan (music director), Saratha Sriskandararajah (Dance teacher) and Thedchanamoorthy Rajeswary (carnatic musician) were honoured by leading cadres of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in the presence of a large crowd.

Head of Arts and Cultural Department of the LTTE Mr.Puthuvai Ratnathurai introduced the veteran artists to the audience.

Trincomalee district women political wing of the LTTE Ms Kaaronja delivered the keynote address. Professor A.Shanmugathas of the Jaffna University also spoke. Kuralamutham K.Vinayagasothy presided.
