Medical practitioner felicitated by Pirapaharan

V. Pirapaharan, Leader of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), applauded the services of Dr. Gengadharan on the golden anniversary (50 years) of his medical services to the Tamil community and presented him with a service award, sources in Vanni said.

"Dr. Gengadharan epitomizes highest levels of selfless service a human being can do to his community. Practice of medicine is a sacred profession. Several past practitioners have left indelible mark on our history by their dedicated service to our people. Dr. Gengadharan is one of those who has tirelessly worked to help his people," said Mr.V. Pirapaharan.

During the period when there was severe economic embargo and ban on even basic medical supplies, Dr. Gengadharan was one of the key individuals who were responsible for maintaining some basic level of medical service in Vanni, sources in the medical profession said.
