Peace talks, security situation to be debated in parliament[TamilNet, Sunday, 04 May 2003, 18:09 GMT]Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Mr.Ranil Wickremasinghe is to make a special statement on the peace talks and the current security situation of the country in parliament on May 6. A full debate on PM's statement will be followed thereafter, parliamentary sources said. The Parliament meets on May 6 after a five week vacation and its sitting will continue till May 9, sources said Meanwhile meeting of the twenty four-member committee on parliamentary business, which was scheduled to be held Monday, has been postponed to Tuesday. The Speaker Mr.Joseph Michael Perera is to preside over the meeting in which party leaders will hold discussions to formally fix the parliamentary debate.
