SLN search damages fishing boats, SLA constructs new camp[TamilNet, Wednesday, 16 July 2003, 15:53 GMT]The Sri Lanka Navy Wednesday searched all fishing boats beached in the coastal villages of Supparmadam and Inbaruty in the Vadamarachchi division in Jaffna district, and several boats were damaged during the search operation, fishermen complained to their Fisheries Co-operative Society, sources said. Portions of two boats were damaged when SLN soldiers entered each boat and conducted a thorough search. The affected fishermen have said that they needed twenty thousand rupees to repair each damaged boat. SLN sources said the search was conducted on information that weapons had been hidden in the boats. Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Army has established a new camp along the Kodikamam-Point Pedro road and SLA soldiers were seen Wednesday strengthening existing army camps with barbed wire fences, civil sources said.
