Thamilchelvan meets eastern NGOs

Mr. S. P. Thamilchelvan, the head of the political wing of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), who is on a visit to the eastern Batticaloa district held discussions with representatives of various civilian organisations, Tuesday morning.

The LTTE's senior commander for Batticaloa-Ampara, Col. Karuna accompanied Mr. Thamilchelvan to the meetings.

Discussions centred around various problems faced by civilians in the eastern districts, sources said.

Special commander for Batticaloa-Ampara, Mr. T. Ramesh, regional LTTE political wing head Mr. Kousalyan and regional deputy head of the LTTE political wing Mr. Krishnan also participated in the discussions, which were held at the Thenakam Rest House in Karadiyanaru.

The discussion began at 9 a.m. and lasted for three hours, sources said.
