The Deputy Political Head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, Mr.Thangan, addressing Jaffna district government officials Wednesday afternoon, stressed that there is an urgent need to co-ordinate all development works in the district. He added that the decision on launching new development projects in the peninsula should come from Jaffna itself, sources said

"No room should be given to outside interference in making a decision to develop our land,” he told district officials involved in formulating development proposals, sources said.

Mr.C.Ilamparuthi, the LTTE’s Jaffna district political head, presided over the conference, which was held at the Navalar Cultural Hall in Jaffna, sources said.

Meanwhile, the LTTE political head, Mr.S.P.Thamilchelvan, Wednesday met with government officials in the districts of Ampara and Batticaloa separately and obtained first hand information about the situation in the eastern areas, sources said.
