SLMM head to visit Batticaloa Thursday

The Norwegian head of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (retd) Major General Triggve Teleffsen is scheduled to visit Batticaloa Thursday to hold discussion with the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) officials and Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) military and political leaders, SLMM sources said.

Major General Triggve Teleffsen is also due to meet Tamil and Muslim community leaders and is expected to hold discussions with them in promoting harmony among various communities in the east, sources said.

Major General Triggve Teleffsen is to be accompanied by his Chief Operations Manager and media spokes person, sources said.

Major General Teleffsen last Monday visited Trincomalee and held discussion with the LTTE Trincomalee military commander Colonel Pathuman and political head Mr.Thilak at Sampur LTTE political secretariat. Later he held discussions with the Trincomalee district General Officer Commanding Major General Sunil Tennekon, sources said.
