Annai Poopathi remembered in Jaffna

Annai Poopathi sacrificed her life for the emancipation of Tamil people in the northeast province, said the Tamil National Alliance national list parliamentarian, Mr.M.K.Eelaventhan, addressing the death anniversary celebration of Annai Poopathi held Monday at the Colonel Kittu mausoleum, located at Muththirai Santhi in Jaffna town.

A large number of students and members of public participated in the token fast. The Jaffna district LTTE women political head, Ms. Kalaivizhi, hoisted the Thamileelam national flag and Mr. Solomon Cyril, President of the Jaffna Humanitarian Agencies Consortium, lit the common flame of sacrifice.

Token fast held in Jaffna -Muthtirai Santhi at the Annai Poopathy remembrance event.


Annai Poopathi death anniversary celebrations were also held in Thenmaradchchi, Vadamaradchchi, Islets and other areas in the Jaffna district on a grand scale.

Large numbers of students and residents of the areas participated in the token fast and other activities held, sources said.

Important junctions in the Jaffna town were decorated and Annai Poopathi cutouts were placed in public places, sources said.
