EPDP cadre shot dead in Trincomalee

Unidentified gunman shot dead a paramilitary cadre of the EPDP in the heart of Trincomale town, around 9.30 p.m., Tuesday, police in the eastern port town said.

The Police and army reinforced their security measures in the Trincomalee town following the killing, source said.

Meanwhile, in Batticaloa, a Tamil youth was shot and killed by unidentified person, around 7.30 p.m, Tuesday, in a boutique on the Batticaloa Kalmunai highway, police in the eastern town said.

The victim succumbed to gunshot injuries while being transported to the Kaluwanchikudi district hospital, the police said.

The victim is yet to be identified.
