Football coaching camp for tsunami-victims begins in Trincomalee

Three-day football coaching camp for school students and physical training teachers (PTI) in Trincomalee town sponsored by Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) and conducted by the Trincomalee Football League began Friday morning. FIFA headquartered in Geneva has sent Mr.Holger Obaman, German coach to conduct the camp, TFL sources said.

Mr.Holger Obaman said the coaching camping has been conducted to students in tsunami-hit areas to overcome problems they face psychologically. " It is a wonderful opportunity for them to return to playground once again with enthusiasm and FIFA has taken a keen interest in educating youths and local coaches in the latest techniques and information in football," said Mr.Holger Obaman. Mr.Mahindapala, Youth Development Director of the FFSL and national football coaches also participated. At the inaugural event held in Trincomalee McHeyzer Stadium Friday morning, Mr.Kapila Jayasekara, acting President of the TFL who is also the Police Superintendent of the area, and Mr.S.Jeyashankar, Vice President of TFL also spoke.
