Operation USA donates learning materials to Kallady students

Mr. Richard M.Walden, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Operation USA, a non-governmental organization in America visited Kallady, a remote fishing hamlet in Eachchilampathu division, down south of Trincomalee district and handed over a consignment of learning materials to about 175 students affected by war and tsunami. The Tamil Rehabilitation Organization sponsored the event, which was held at Kallady Sri Neeliamman Koviladi, Tuesday.

Mr.S.Vijekumar, TRO Trincomalee District Director, Mr.C.Kumarakuruparan, District Deputy Director and Mr.Ravi, TRO Muttur Co-ordinator participated in the event. Mr.Ganesh, TRO Co-ordinator in USA was present.
Mr.K.Arudchelvam, Principal presided. Each student was given materials worth about Rs 2800, including a school bag, uniform cloth and learning materials. Mr. Walden and his associates of the Operation USA later inspected the construction work of permanent houses
to tsunami victims and also the pre-school building with the funding of Operation USA, TRO sources said. Operation USA has assured to provide assistance to affected families to rehabilitate their livelihood, TRO Trincomalee district official said. Mr. Walden Wednesday visited the children home 'Anbu Illam' which is located in Trincomalee town. He commended the management of the Children Home.
