SLN arrested fleeing Sri Lankan Tamils in Mannar Sea

Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) Wednesday night around 11 p.m. arrested 18 Tamil civilians with four Indian boatmen while they were fleeing to seek refuge in Tamilnadu from Talaimannar coast. They were handed over to the Talaimannar Police Thursday morning. SLN has detained the Indian boat in its custody.

The arrested Tamil civilians had been residents of Mannar, and Trincomalee districts. Four Indian boatmen had been residents of Rameswaram in Tamilnadu, Talaimannar Police said.

Eighteen Tamil civilians and four Indian boatmen were being under interrogation and they would be produced in Mannar magistrate's court Friday morning, Talaimannar Police said.
